The Oakland Raiders pulled into the MetLife Stadium contest against the New York Jets riding high. Winners of three straight and in possession of the sixth seed. However, the Raiders got outclassed by the 2-7 Jets and embarrassed.
When the clock struck 0:00 the final score was 34-3 every bit indicative of the complete dismantling that occurred. The Raiders took the opening drive of 11 plays and 46 yards for a field goal. Their third drive started at their 25 and gained 50 yards to the Jets’ 25 before kicker Daniel Carlson missed a 43 yarder with 10:44 in the second quarter.
It was with just under 14 minutes to go in the game before the Raider offense crossed midfield again. Just tiptoed to the Jets 48 to be able to say they crossed midfield. Just complete and total domination.
No Help
When you look at the offense and the makeup of what they have been, it’s clear they are in dire need of a #1 wide receiver.
Early when the game was still a game, Derek Carr was getting no help from anyone. Tyrell Williams has come to Oakland and continued to display the inconsistent hands which precipitated his departure from Los Angeles.

Williams has played through some things and may still be playing through more things, I respect that. I do. However, there are no excuses when you step in between the lines and Williams ain’t getting it done. The fact is he’s never been the #1 guy, and it’s not his fault he was brought in to be something he’s not. William’s has got to catch the damn ball.
The job title which he is paid millions of dollars per year is wide “receiver.” A term loosely defined as catcher of the forward pass, scorer of touchdowns, dancer in end zoner. Job #1 catch the football. I get not all contested catches are going to go his way but when you’re running wide f’n open across the middle of the field on 3rd down. Past the yard to gain marker with room to turn it into something bigger. The team needs those yards, that catch and he’s developing a knack for letting them down.
Zay Jones continues to be a mystery, like a shadowy figure present while not really being there. Two catches for five yards with a long of six is not contributing anything to the cause. One would keep going but that’s literally all there is to it, there simply isn’t enough production or targets to critique.
Chiefs -50 in Arrowhead Bet
Andy Reid is (some insane number)-2 coming out of the bye week in his coaching career. The Chiefs offense with everyone healthy, has got to be laughing and licking their chops for an opportunity at another career day lining up against this defense.
The guy who literally admitted to seeing ghosts on the field just touched up the Raiders for 34 points. What is Mahomes going to do in a game that will cement the division for the Chiefs? It’s going to be ugly. The Raiders defensive backfield is among the worst in the league and the soft zone scheme they play most downs is horrible.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs defense is playing much better and the Raiders offense is going downhill. Carr has never won at Arrowhead, and doesn’t win in the cold. The line isn’t looking as stout as it once was, there is no doubt guys are banged up.
After a game like the one played against the Jets, there isn’t a man alive who could convince a logical person that the Raiders are going to march into Kansas City and shock the world. If you’re a betting man, take Kansas City and the points, whatever they are. Raiders haven’t shown us they have what it takes for the postseason grind, yet.
