Raider Nation Weighs In On Team’s First Draft Choice

The 2020 NFL Draft is quickly approaching and we at the Raider Ramble posed a question to Raider Nation. After all the moves that have been made, what position should the Las Vegas Raiders address first?

General manager Mike Mayock opted to invest heavily on the defensive side of the ball in free agency. And this was certainly the smart move, especially when you consider the fact the linebacker position was not just addressed but vastly improved. This obviously meant that other positions such as wide receiver and cornerback were left short changed.

Given all this, we know the Raiders will have to tackle the remaining deficiencies on their roster via the draft. We then decided to ask our readers throughout social media what the team should do with their first pick.

The overwhelming majority responded with wide receiver and cornerback across Twitter and Instagram. This is obviously the logical choice, the Raiders signed Nelson Agholor but let’s face it, the team still needs a number one wide receiver. Luckily for the Silver and Black, there will be a plethora of talent at that position early and often. Cornerback was another position that will be needing attention. Eli Apple was picked up after the first wave of free agency but I don’t think he’ll be in competition for a starting spot.

Just a snippet of what Ramble readers had to say on Instagram

The consensus was pretty clear and while fans don’t run the team, we’re sure Mayock is aware of these needs as well. And let’s face it Raider Nation, he hasn’t dissapointed yet.

  1. The guy will be the very first player for Las Vegas Raiders so he’s got to be a generational player and having read Mayock talking about difficulty picking WRs at 1 round, I’d like to see us trade both 1 round picks for 1 round and 2 round picks from one of the teams picking #3 to #7 and select Isaiah Simmons.

  2. raiders need a new headcoach dont get me wrong gruden is a very good coach but i feel he fucked us over in 2000 when he went to tampa and won the super bowl against the raiders of course he would he new all the raiders plays on offense and defense im just keeping it real ive been a raider fan since the 70’s

  3. I’d like to see us draft Jeudy/Ruggs w/ 12 and then trade back out of 19 to get a late first and a 2nd. Draft maybe a safety/BPA and then get Bryce Hall 2nd round. Not sure if Hall is slotted to slip that far but would love to get him

  4. My hope is we trade both our firsts, and a 2nd next year to move up to pick 2 and take Chase Young. Dude has a chance to be better than Mack! Our pass rush would be crazy, improving our secondary, and making the defense legit for the first time in years

  5. Vincent LoMonaco

Trade back 2x with both 1st round picks. Take best available pass rusher lineman and corner back. Hopefully get 2 2nd round picks in trade back and take 2 best wide receiver in deep pool.
