Raiders Pick Up Local Nevada Players Closing Out Draft Weekend

After having a solid draft where key deficiencies were addressed, the Las Vegas Raiders added some local Nevada and international talent.

Raiders general manager Mike Mayock added some important talent in the 2020 NFL Draft, especially at wide receiver. Even after a great weekend at hauling future Raiders talent, he wasn’t done just yet. Raiders brass picked up some youngsters from their new home in Nevada, agreeing to terms with several players.

Javin White, who played football at UNLV was signed by the Raiders. The hybrid defensive back and linebacker had an impressive career. He totaled 199 tackles, adding 18 for a loss in 38 career games. Additionally, hw got himself three and a half sacks and nabbed nine career interceptions. White figures to compete for snaps once camp gets underway. The Raiders linebacker core is crowded with an infusion of quality talent.

John Molchon, an offensive guard who played at Boise State was also picked up. Molchon, who is from Las Vegas, had a decent showing at the NFL Scouting Combine, scoring 34.0 inches on his vertical jump, a broad jump of 109.0 inches, and going for 26 reps on the bench press. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, said Molchon “possesses good size and girthy frame” and has “good feel for angles and landmarks up to the second level.” A final note on Molchon is that he also played tackle. Either way, he’ll have his work cut out in a crowded guard depth chart.

Special teams for the Raiders also got a boost in the form of a kicker/punter from Utah State, Dominik Eberle. The young man hails from Nuremberg, Germany, and looks to create a possible position battle for who will boot punts for the Silver and Black. An interesting tidbit on Eberle is in his collegiate career, he kicked three 50-yard plus field goals in one game, only the sixth player to do so in NCAA history as pointed out by AFI.com, leg strength won’t be an issue here.
