The Las Vegas Raiders selected Lynn Bowden Jr. in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Even though the Kentucky product thought he should’ve been a higher pick, he’s happy he is with the Silver and Black.
Raiders brass wanted to surround quarterback Derek Carr with offensive weapons. After picking wide receivers Henry Ruggs III and Bryan Edwards, they added one when they chose Bowden with the pick. Quickly, talks began about the team using the Wildcats’ playmaker as a Swiss Knife of sorts. Regarding his role with the team, Bowden says that he won’t limit himself to one position.
Bowden Is Aware He Has a Wide Skill Set
In a conversation with Anthony Galaviz of Fresno Bee, Bowden discussed his excitement about joining the Raiders. Also, the running back talked about the position he will play with in the pros and events that transpired when the Raiders drafted him.
Bowden said that he’s looking forwards to play different positions this upcoming season.
I’m multi-talented. I’ll play whatever position I need to play. I’ll never limit myself to just playing just one position because I can do it all.
Later on in the interview, Bowden mentions that he had mixed feelings when the Raiders selected him. Not because of the destination but rather because he expected to be a first round pick. At the end, he came to terms with it and knows he’s with a team that wanted him.
Anybody in their right mind should feel that way and feel like they’re the best player or playmaker, The way I feel, I should’ve been picked up in the first, but it all played out right and I landed with the right team and right coach at the right time.
Also, Bowden pointed out he felt a “vibe” about Raiders head coach Jon Gruden. Moreover, he thinks they had chemistry ever since the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine.”

A Flurry of Activity on the Phone
It’s not rare for players to receive plenty of phone calls from all kinds of people such as college teammates or their new team. It wasn’t any different for Bowden, who confessed he answered all but one, the one from his new quarterback. To his defense, Bowden said he didn’t have Carr’s number on his contact list. Then again, why would he if he didn’t know he was going to join the Raiders.
At first I was like I was almost confused because a lot of people from the organization were calling me and then I had to like realize who just called me, he said. I called him back and I was like, ‘Oh shoot, that’s my quarterback.’ I was excited to hear from him and we’re ready to rock and roll.
