Raiders Owner Mark Davis Will Not Attend Games If Fans Can’t

The 2020 season is less than two months away. In the meantime, Las Vegas Raiders Mark Davis has shared his opinion regarding fans attendance.

Many football fans have begun to doubt the 2020 NFL season will actually occur due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For the moment, the Raiders haven’t made a final decision yet and are weighing their options.

The NFL hasn’t actually canceled any games. However, certain stadiums have decided to reduce fan seating to a maximum of 25 percent. The Green Bay Packers have already announced mask requirements. Similarly, some teams will cap the number of fans that can attend games. Moreover, the Super Bowl Champion, the Kansas Chiefs, have already returned tickets.

Currently, Raider Nation is wondering if they will get to enter their brand new shiny stadium in the year 2020. Davis has made his feelings known to Vic Tafur of the Athletic. The owner says he can’t get himself to invite some fans into Allegiant while turning down others.

“I won’t go if the fans can’t go, and the way it looks right now there won’t be any fans at our games. It’s all or none for me.”

Davis Strongly Believes Fans Are Key to the Raiders Success

In the same interview with Tafur, Davis argues fans helped built the Raiders new stadium. He says that he doesn’t want to prioritize advertisement over fans. He simply doesn’t think a couple tarps will make for the fact fans will be absent.

I can’t tell one fan that they can’t go to the inaugural opening game in a stadium that they helped to build through their PSLs,” Davis added. “I won’t tell them that they can’t go but the rest of these guys can … and oh, by the way, don’t worry about it because we’ll be able to advertise on your seats.

Davis’ position has been met with a favorable response from the Silver and Black faithful. They approve Davis’ clear loyalty to fans that are willing to follow the team after a less than joyful departure from Oakland. Whether or not Davis will actually be in Allegiant Stadium in September is still up in the air, but at least his “Commitment to Excellence” remains the same.
