Raider Nation got its first look at Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariota last week against the Chargers. Despite the team’s loss, Mariota did not disappoint.

Raiders QB Marcus Mariota to the Rescue
Raider Nation collectively gasped when quarterback Derek Carr pulled up injured against the Los Angeles Chargers last week. The general consensus on social media was that the Raiders season was now over when ‘4’ was unable to continue. Enter backup quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Despite showing a little bit of rust, Mariota filled in admirably for Carr. He was 17-of-28 for 226 yards for one touchdown and one interception. On the ground, he added nine carries for 88 yards and a touchdown. However, in spite of Mariota leading the team into overtime, the Silver and Black fell to the Chargers 30-27.

Looking Forward to the Future
While Carr’s status for the next game against the Dolphins remains in question, Mariota showed that the Raiders have a backup quarterback who gives the team a chance of winning. In the upcoming Miami Dolphins game, we would like not only a victory but to take a look at players who have not made much of an impact yet. These players include wide receiver Bryan Edwards, tight end Foster Moreau, and offensive lineman John Simpson.
Against the ‘Phins’, two hosts see the Raiders winning while one predicts the Dolphins to come out on top. This next game is critical to both teams’ playoff odds. The Raiders’ chances hover around one percent, but the Dolphins are firmly in the hunt.
