Raiders Must Target This Pending Buccaneers Free Agent

Having won Super Bowl LV in dominant fashion, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might lose some of their contributors. As far as the Las Vegas Raiders are concerned, only one of them should be on their radar.

Despite destroying the Kansas City Chiefs in an anticlimactic post-season finale, the ‘Bucs’ have some financial decisions to make. In all likelihood, they keep Chris Godwin and Shaquil Barrett, the latter on a franchise tag if needed. However, the player that the Bucs might lose is defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who will probably become a free agent.

An all-new interior for the Raiders’ defensive line should be the priority this offseason. The team’s brass could draft a player like Daviyon Nixon or Christian Barmore to help set up the future. We also don’t know what will happen with Johnathan Hankins and whether he’ll be too expensive to re-sign this offseason. Nevertheless, using some of the forecasted cap space to bring in Suh should be a priority.

What could Ndamukong Suh do for the Raiders?

Along with a poor pass defense, the Silver and Black were largely unable to generate much pressure from the middle. Maliek Collins was a free agent bust this past offseason though most of the unit struggled as a whole. You plug in Suh and the entire defense changes. He’s a three-time All-Pro that isn’t slowing down and hasn’t missed a regular-season game since 2011.

It’s been an eternity since Las Vegas had a defender of Suh’s caliber, a behemoth that can not only stuff the run but will disrupt the passing game and annihilate quarterbacks. These last two seasons in Tampa Bay, Suh accumulated 16 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks during the regular season. You can also tack on 53 pressures for Suh during that same stretch. The Raiders need a presence like Suh in the middle and they need it now so needless to say, it should be a priority.
