The Las Vegas Raiders defeated the Miami Dolphins in overtime to bring their record to 3-0 overall. Next, they face their divisional rival, the Los Angeles Chargers.
Raiders Beat the Dolphins
In this episode of The Only Nation Podcast, the crew looks at the Raiders’ victory over the Dolphins and then previews the game against the Chargers. Kicker Daniel Carlson hit the game-winning field goal as overtime expired to lift the Silver and Black to a 3-0 record. Quarterback Derek Carr had another good game going 26-43 for 386 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. In the first three games of the season, Carr has thrown for 1,203 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Not only has Carr been on fire in the first three games, but Raiders receivers have also been dominant. For the first time in NFL history, the Raiders have four receivers that have caught at least 200 yards through the first three games of the season. These players are wide receivers Hunter Renfrow, Bryan Edwards, Henry Ruggs III, and tight end Darren Waller.
In addition to reviewing the Dolphins matchup, we each award a game ball to a Raiders player for their performance in the game. Two of the players honored include Renfrow and cornerback Casey Hayward. Next, we look at something about the Dolphins game that the Raiders can use, improve on or change for the upcoming bout with the Chargers. To wrap up the game talk, we each give a prediction of the outcome of the Chargers game. Two hosts have the Chargers winning, and one host has the Raiders coming out on top.
Current Issues and History Quiz
To finish talking about current issues, we discuss guard Richie Incognito being placed on injured reserve, game officials, and the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs are only 1-2 to start the season. For the history quiz, one host gets the answer right. To end the episode, Heidi talks about a four-legged hero.
