Las Vegas Raiders WR Corps Receiving Praise From CBS Sports

A unit for the Las Vegas Raiders that’s been consistently receiving admiration is their revamped receiving corps. Among the national outlets that have most recently bestowed the Raiders with such adoration is CBS Sports.

The Raiders’ wide receiver group from 2022 will have little resemblance to the unit that saw the field last season. Gone are Bryan Edwards, Zay Jones, DeSean Jackson, and, for obvious reasons, Henry Ruggs III. Once the new regime came into the fold for the Silver and Black, new general manager Dave Ziegler made it clear that the organization was going to win now. To do this, the team acquired Davante Adams via a blockbuster trade. The Raiders also added Demarcus Robinson, a veteran from the Kansas City Chiefs’ last Super Bowl-winning team. Oh, and Las Vegas still has one of the league’s top three tight ends in Darren Waller.

What did CBS Sports say about the Las Vegas Raiders?

While CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin did state that the offensive line is a concern, ranking Adams as his number one wideout was notable.

“The longtime Packers star has played a full season just twice in his eight-year career, but when he’s on the field (even banged up), he’s the total package, averaging over 90 yards per game in three of his last four seasons. He gets open at every level, has reliable hands, and shows up on clutch downs. Any concern about his split from Aaron Rodgers should be mild if his public and private chemistry with Carr is any indication of their future together.”

His health hasn’t been nearly as talked about when it comes to Adams as his relationship with Derek Carr has been. As Benjamin mentions, when Adams is on the field, his impact is undeniable. Averaging more than 12 yards per reception for his career is quite remarkable, and he’s only two years removed from catching 18 touchdowns in one season (2020). The other Raiders receiver who’s going to reap the benefits from Adams’s arrival will be Hunter Renfrow. The former Clemson Tiger just barely missed the cut. Benjamin has him on his “next tier” list alongside Allen Robinson and Adam Thielen. It will be interesting to see how this list changes next offseason once Renfrow has played a season next to Adams. Most likely, Renfrow is going to do better than some of his NFL teammates and will leapfrog some of these names, right, Raider Nation?
