Raiders Preseason

Raiders Training Camp: How Will The Linebackers Take Shape?

So, Who Wins What In Raiders Training Camp?

Something Raider Nation hasn’t been able to say about the linebacker group in a long time is that there’s depth. The likes of Kyler Fackrell, Micah Kiser, and Kenny Young, among others, should make it exciting. The “next man up” mentality should be prevalent in this group. However, you could confidently pencil in Perryman for a starting spot. Even on third down, passing situations, I think Perryman will be in more than not. He’ll probably have at least one of the two between Deablo and Brown next to him on passing downs.

Otherwise, I believe Brown has the inside track on the MIKE linebacker spot ahead of the others in the group. Fackrell could have a bigger role in early downs as well. He has had a lot of success rushing the passer in the past, and that’s something that defensive coordinator Patrick Graham will utilize. With how much depth there is in this group, Graham will be able to maximize the different strengths of each player.

Keep an eye on this group. There should be a lot of intrigue among the linebackers as they sort themselves out in camp and through the preseason. The ability to do it all with different players should be quite a sight for sore eyes amongst Raider Nation. Tagged along with Graham’s scheme, this group should be a lot of fun to watch.
