DJ Turner

Las Vegas Raiders WR DJ Turner Impresses In Vikings Matchup

The Las Vegas Raiders came home to Allegiant Stadium and had several bright spots in their second preseason win. Among those that shone was DJ Turner, who is battling to make a mark in a crowded wide receiver group.

The top of the order is set for the Raiders; you have Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. After that, you have a competitive group of receivers trying to move up the ranks. Turner, for his part, did his best to make an impression in front of the coaching staff and Raider Nation. Speaking to the media following the victory, head coach Josh McDaniels sang Turner’s praises, recognizing his efforts and acknowledging that the receiver is making the most of his opportunity.

“He did a good job. He did a good job in the kicking game, had a good return, and then certainly made plays when the ball found him on offense. DJ is very consistent. He’s been consistent all the way through, starting in the spring. He knows what his job is, he plays fast, and he’s physical for a smaller guy. [Turner] has good size and you saw his bursts there on the touchdown catch. He makes the most of his opportunities, which is what we ask everybody to try to do. DJ certainly did that today.”

Can DJ Turner make the Raiders’ final roster?

As far as making his presence known, Turner made sure people took notice with a beautiful 34-yard touchdown where he showed some burst, outrunning Vikings defenders. Realizing he has to show out to have a chance at the roster, Turner turned on the jets and put on a show. Right now, Turner is likely behind Keelan Cole and Tyron Johnson. You also have Demarcus Robinson or Mack Hollins possibly having a grip on the third receiver slot. At the end of the day, only McDaniels knows how these receivers are accurately ranked. With the Raiders heading to Miami next weekend, Turner will need to continue putting on a display.
