How about that Raiders’ interior defensive presence?
Christian Barmore, DT – Original Draft Position: No. 38 to the New England Patriots
Another year, another exhaustive search for an interior presence on defense or the Raiders. Christian Barmore was pegged for the Raiders in a lot of pre-draft discussions due to his ability to bring serious heat to the pocket. Some were worried that this was all a product of the football factory that is Alabama. A reasonable concern, but Barmore quickly dispelled it. Barmore didn’t record a large number of sacks, but he did tally the most pressures from a rookie interior defensive lineman since 2015 with 48, per PFF. This was on a Patriots team that didn’t have edge rushers on the level of a Maxx Crosby. Imagine if the Raiders could unleash a front four that included Chandler Jones, Barmore, and Cosby. Whew.
