Raiders Radio Host On Current Regime: “These Guys Are Intense”

This current Las Vegas Raiders regime has caused quite a stir with Raider Nation. Some want them out already, while others are being patient. Local radio host J.T. The Brick recently sounded off on this power duo, namely head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler.

While talking on Raider Nation Radio, the long-time voice of the Raiders, J.T., shared some insight into the two men that have become polarizing among fans.

“These gentlemen who came over from New England have been much more urgent than any group I’ve seen in Raider history, coaches and GM. That’s not a knock on the other ones. These guys are much more intense, and their plan is much more specific, and their vision is much more unique than other ones, who were all good people, all good coaches. But these guys come from a hierarchy and a group led by Bill Belichick where they do it a little bit tighter and a little bit different and it’s going to rub some people the wrong way if you’re not on the inside and know the plan.”

Are the Las Vegas Raiders in good hands?

The problem with the radio host’s statement is that all of the previous regimes had a similar vibe. First, you had Reggie McKenzie, who came in and shook the foundation, getting the Raiders out of salary cap hell. Then, you had Jon Gruden return, wanting to take the Raiders “back to 1998.” Add in Mike Mayock, and all of these have one thing in common: they too had “a plan.” But that doesn’t mean they succeeded.

Sure, the New England Patriots have had tremendous success with Bill Belichick at the helm. Even so, that doesn’t mean his disciples will be just as successful. None of Belichick’s assistants have experienced major success, McDaniels included. The decision on whether these two (McDaniels and Ziegler) are performing any better lies with owner Mark Davis. So far, he’s given them free rein. For now, Raider Nation can only wait it out and see if having such an intense and focused group will have a different outcome than their predecessors.
