The NFL world right now is dominated by quarterback headlines. Among the signal-callers that could call a new place home is Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. The three-time Pro Bowler is apparently on the trading block. According to Carr’s older brother, Darren Carr, No. 4 can go wherever he pleases. Well, there you have it.
It can’t be surprising that Derek’s older brother has his back. As most Raiders fans can attest to, Carr has long been surrounded by a machine that constantly churns out its thoughts on the Raiders’ quarterback, more often than not unsolicited. As you might guess, it’s usually one-sided. This is Carr’s family, after all, so it’s not shocking by any means. You have Carr’s other brother, David Carr, an all-time NFL bust who goes on a global platform to talk about “revealing” what’s going on at Raiders HQ. Darren, for his part, has gotten into spats with NFL players and fans on Twitter, the closest he’s come to fame.
Say what you will, this family sticks together.
Wherever he wants
— Darren Carr (@DCarr75) January 28, 2023
There’s some truth to what Darren is saying, albeit a small one. If the Raiders are indeed trading No. 4, as David alluded to, he’d need to agree to it. It’s one of the perks of having a no-trade clause in his contract. Clearly, Carr isn’t going to accept a trade to just anywhere general manager Dave Ziegler wishes. If something doesn’t get worked out, Carr will be released. At that point, DC4 can indeed go “where he wants,” as Darren Carr so eloquently put it.
It goes without saying that the coming days and weeks will be interesting for both Raiders fans and Carr supporters.
