Raiders Notes: Rookies Get Their Numbers, Tom Brady Joining The Owner’s Box, Damon Arnette In The News

It’s been an interesting week for the Las Vegas Raiders and their fans, which is putting it mildly. In case you missed it, Raider Nation was in an uproar over Derek Carr’s No. 4 getting handed to a rookie quarterback. You know, the typical infighting among the fanbase. That aside, it’s all but set in stone that Tom Brady will be joining Mark Davis in the team’s owner’s box very soon. Draft bust Damon Arnette was also in the news for something other than terrible on-field play. Let’s take a look at our latest edition of Raiders Notes.

Tom Brady? Get Him Out Of Here…

Brady joining the ranks of the Silver and Black isn’t all that shocking. As our own Ray Aspuria put it best, Brady has owned the Raiders since 2002, so nothing new there. All jokes aside, pending NFL approval, Brady will be purchasing an ownership stake in the Raiders. Davis himself expressed joy in this development recently.

“We’re excited for Tom to join the Raiders, and it’s exciting because he will be just the third player in the history of the National Football League to become an owner.”

Brady and Davis are already business associates in Las Vegas, with a relationship in place with the Aces, the WNBA’s franchise in Sin City. Naturally, it makes sense for Brady to get in on all of the action. The city is quickly becoming the epicenter of the NFL world thanks to its appeal as a major attraction and destination. Also, Brady’s winning pedigree wouldn’t hurt the Raiders; many of his former cohorts, such as Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler, are already running the show; the organization needs as many winners as possible.

Damon Arnette back in court…

Arnette, known as one of the biggest busts in recent memory for the Raiders, was in court this week. Arnette is asking for a judge to dismiss assault and weapons charges, which stem from an altercation that took place in 2022, as reported by Katelyn Newberg of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Arnette’s tenure was marred by several incidents, and his play on the field was simply underwhelming. He has a court date set for June 7th, and one can only hope that young man will get his life in order sooner rather than later.

OTAs are underway for the Raiders

One final tidbit: football is officially on its way back for Raiders fans. OTA offseason workouts are fully underway this week, and with that, the team’s rookie class is all suited up. A couple of notable digits: Michael Mayer takes over No. 87 from Foster Moreau, who reunited with Derek Carr in New Orleans. First-round pick Tyree Wilson will be wearing the heralded “9” this season as well. Football is nearly here, folks. Well, almost.
