Raiders News: Raider Nation - Hunter Renfrow, Jermaine Eluemunor and more...

Rest Easy Raiders Fans; Hunter Renfrow Isn’t Going Anywhere Anytime Soon

All offseason, Las Vegas Raiders wideout Hunter Renfrow has been at the center of never-ending speculation. Well, the Pro Bowl wideout is safe for now.

To call this a tumultuous time for the Silver and Black wouldn’t do it justice. Raider Nation has seen the organization’s pillar at quarterback cut, a once heralded top-three NFL tight end jettisoned, and now, it’s an All-Pro running back left on the outside looking in (quite literally). One player that appears safe for now is Renfrow. Breathe easy, folks.

In a recent report by The Athletic’s Tashan Reed, the Raiders beat reporter mentions that trade rumors surrounding Renfrow are unfounded at this time. That was credited to league sources.

“The Raiders haven’t been shopping Renfrow and haven’t received any trade offers for him, according to league sources. But their offseason moves make his standing with the team worth examining.”

That said, Reed does still point out that the organization’s moves this offseason leave you wondering what the situation with regard to Hunter Renfrow really means.

When general manager Dave Ziegler opted to bring in another former New England Patriot, Jakobi Meyers, it seemed Renfrow might be expendable. After all, Renfrow struggled to stay on the field last season. On top of that, when he did play, it wasn’t his best outing. Still, No. 13 has shown what he’s capable of when healthy and thriving.

Renfrow was seen as a natural fit in Josh McDaniels’ offensive system, akin to Wes Welker or Julian Edelman. If Reed’s report proves correct in the long run, it would appear that Renfrow is indeed safe. More importantly, it could likely indicate the Raiders’ coaching staff still believes they have something they can work with. A passing attack with Renfrow, Meyers, and, of course, Davante Adams still has the makings of something lethal.
