Davante Adams wasn’t celebrating the fact that the Las Vegas Raiders fired Josh McDaniels but acknowledged it was the right move, all things considered. Regardless of how you feel about McDaniels as a coach, an in-season firing doesn’t exactly exude stability. Even so, Adams remains steadfast in his belief that the Silver and Black need to keep moving forward.
It just didn’t work out for Josh McDaniels…
A quick sidebar, comments by Adams aside, it was interesting to see No. 17 and other Raiders players shoot hoops in the locker room. Literally, as he mentioned that they weren’t celebrating. Still, it made for some fun social media interactions among Raider Nation.
Davante Adams: “Don’t get it confused, it’s not a celebration that we have a new coach…”

As far as Adams’ comments, the All-Pro made note of the fact that there’s been a shift within the locker room since McDaniels’ exit.
“I think it was time. One way or the other it was time for some sort of change just to bring a little juice in and revitalize the team a little bit. I think it’s more of a mindset that we’re trying to not force but just have moving forward to just be as positive as possible. And we do have a change, so there’s more of a reason, like a definitive shift.”
Where do Davante Adams and the Raiders go from here?
Sitting at 3-5, the Raiders are far from out of it. The season is still winnable, which is exactly what Adams came to the Raiders to do. Admittedly, it appears that McDaniels’ style just wasn’t rubbing off—a cold, almost sterile approach, if you will. Sure, that works when you have Bill Belichick’s prowess, but when you’re in McDaniels’ shoes, it has to be earned. No one wants to hear millionaires complain; at the same time, these players play a kid’s game. They play it because they are that good, but it’s exactly that: a game. By draining the fun out of it, it can get tedious, at best. As Adams alluded to, you have to have fun.
“I think as we speak to each other, it’s been too much of – just this has just been feeling like work too much and not having enough fun.”
Well, if having “fun” translates into some wins in this upcoming stretch at Allegiant Stadium, Raiders fans will be all for it.

Exactly right. Yes its a business and yes its also a game. A game where players should have fun in any sport no matter the sport.
I said as much the day Josh McIdiot got fired.
You guys have some fun. Who knows…you could possibly even win enough to make the playoffs but it doesn’t matter as there are no expectations. Just do your best and have fun and by doing so you increase your stock value for future contracts here or another team.

Without Tom Brady, both McDaniels and Belichick are losers. That is an undisputable fact.
It’s too bad the Raiders had to be the team to debunk the Patriot Way myth once and for all. Mark Davis wanted some of that Patriot pixie dust and we all paid the price for it. We had to endure that insufferable buffoon for over a year and a half.
Our players are classy and are saying the right things. But yes, they are celebrating right along with the fan base.
