Davante Adams To Jets? What A Trade Offer For Raiders WR Could Look Like

The Las Vegas Raiders conclude their 2023 NFL season this Sunday with an AFC West matchup against the Denver Broncos. As we approach the final game of the season, some may wonder: Will this be the last time Davante Adams wears the Silver and Black?

Before head coach Josh McDaniels was fired, Adams’ name circulated in the rumor mill. The speculations subsided when Antonio Pierce assumed the role of interim head coach, and the Raiders started accumulating wins and delivering impressive performances.

Nonetheless, with the veteran receiver missing the playoffs for a second straight season in Las Vegas, expect the rumors to begin again this offseason.

What could the New York Jets offer for Davante Adams?

The New York Jets will undoubtedly be in the mix for the 31-year-old, especially with Aaron Rodgers back under center for the 2024 NFL season. The Jets might decide to reunite the two in the Big Apple for one last dance.

If Adams wants out and the Raiders are willing to listen to offers, what could New York offer for the former Green Bay Packers star? Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay writes that the Jets sending a 2024 third-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick should be enough to get Adams out of Las Vegas.

“Although Adams is on the wrong side of 30 and is in the twilight of his sterling career, he’s finishing up his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard season and still seems to have plenty left in the tank,” Kay wrote. “The Las Vegas Raiders’ acquisition of the star receiver two years ago hasn’t resulted in team success and could lead the organization to deal Adams away as it prepares to rebuild this offseason.

“If the Jets can find a way to bring Adams in on the cheap and reunite him with Rodgers, it will almost guarantee this team fields one of the NFL’s premier passing offenses next season.”

Should the Raiders hold on to their star receiver?

If the Silver and Black decide to trade for a quarterback this offseason, an Adams trade could allow them to recoup some draft capital in any trade. However, there’s also the other side: if the Raiders were to bring in someone like Justin Fields, having Adams would be beneficial.

Jakobi Meyers, Michael Mayer, and Tre Tucker are quality-receiving talents, but they’re not Adams. As a result, whoever is in charge of constructing this team for next season will have a challenging decision to make this offseason.

Still, if Adams becomes available this offseason, it will likely not be only the Jets who might make Las Vegas an offer involving draft picks. Should the Raiders trade Adams, adding a receiver with No. 1 potential via free agency or the draft becomes a priority.

As a new regime comes in, whether Champ Kelly or someone else, the Las Vegas offense will need a makeover, whether that includes Adams or not. It’s been a struggle to watch for most of the season, and one of the first decisions they’ll make is at quarterback and then evaluate his potential weapons.
