Raiders News: Nate Hobbs, Jack Jones.

What’s The Biggest Weakness On The 2024 Raiders Roster?

With training camp approaching, it’s a good time to objectively look at the Las Vegas Raiders roster—what’s the biggest weakness and concern about it?

Here’s the thing: many things can change between now and training camp (and the preseason) as the roster comes together. General manager Tom Telesco could end up making a move or two, especially given the amount of cap room he has to play around with. At present, Raiders fans should be aware of one concern. Tashan Reed of The Athletic says as much.

While examining all 32 NFL teams, Reed highlighted the Raiders and their cornerback group. While he noted that the team has two surefire starters in Jack Jones and Nate Hobbs, the rest of the unit has serious question marks. In particular, who will be the second starter outside (with Hobbs naturally holding down the slot)?

“As it stands, it’s a three-way competition between Brandon Facyson, Jakorian Bennett, and Decamerion Richardson. Facyson and Bennett both struggled with their health and performance last season, and Richardson is a raw rookie, so it’s easy to understand the concern. Rather than sign a one-year stopgap, the Raiders hope the coaching staff can develop someone already on the roster into a competent starter. If that bet doesn’t pay off, the Raiders will have a significant weakness on a defense that otherwise looks to be in great shape.”

How do Raiders fans feel about the roster?

Signing a big-name free agent cornerback just wasn’t in the cards for Telesco and the Raiders. The team did make some important additions, namely defensive tackle Christian Wilkins, which should theoretically pay dividends. With regard to the cornerback position, it seems that the Silver and Black opted for a different route, as Reed pointed out. Patrick Graham leads an impressive defensive coaching staff, but what happens if they can’t produce a reliable starter right away? With that in mind, we took our question to Raider Nation.
