Raiders Notes: Davante Adams Talks Jimmy G, Aaron Rodgers Stirs The Pot, And More

In what’s been a busy couple of days for stories surrounding the Las Vegas Raiders, let’s recap the interesting, the absurd, and everything in between. Keep in mind, all of this occurs without any actual football games taking place.

Raiders fans get clarification into Jimmy Garoppolo’s benching

Last season was a testing one for Davante Adams, and that’s putting it lightly. Early on in the year, we all recall seeing Adams being visibly underwhelmed with the team’s quarterback play. In a recent episode of Netflix’s Receiver, Adams elaborates on Jimmy Garoppolo’s benching in favor of Aidan O’Connell.

“Well, my opinion on that, was I signed off on that. And that’s just the reality of it. You know, I love Jimmy and he’s a great guy, but something had to happen in order for us to have a stretch and in order for me to remain a Raider.”

After benching Garoppolo, the Raiders did come out firing against the New York Giants, but the rest of the season was far from smooth. Who can forget the offense scoring a grand total of zero points against the Minnesota Vikings? Still, it’s interesting to think about what would’ve happened if Raiders owner Mark Davis had decided to stick it out with Josh McDaniels (and, by extension, Garoppolo).

Aaron Rodgers stirs the pot again…

At this point, one must wonder: Does Aaron Rodgers ever miss a chance to name-drop Adams? Sure, fans could be reading too much into everything. For all we know, both Adams and Rodgers sit back and laugh at the expense of everyone losing their minds. It was not that long ago that Adams re-emphasized the fact that he wants to stay with the Raiders. One tiny statement from Rodgers, and it all goes haywire.

At this point, the likelihood of these two teaming up again is getting further away. Rodgers is on his last legs with the New York Jets, while Adams still has some productive seasons ahead of him. For now, let’s reduce this to Rodgers having fun with the media.

Shedeur Sanders To The Raiders Has Hall Of Famer’s Approval

Former Raiders great Richard Seymour in the news…

Pro Football Hall of Famer Richard Seymour is reportedly interested in purchasing a portion of the Raiders alongside Tom Brady. As most Raiders know, the late Al Davis became known for advancing several social matters in the NFL. Some of them involve minorities at the coaching level—Art Shell and Tom Flores, for example. Well, his son, Mark, continues that tradition. According to a post by Mike Florio’s Pro Football Talk, Davis initiated the effort to involve Seymour in ownership.

It’ll be fascinating to see how all of this plays out for the Raiders. Davis, 69, has no children, and so there’s no familiar heir to the Silver and Black throne. If the proposal surrounding Brady and Seymour is approved, it’ll certainly play a role in the future of the team that’s been fully owned by the Davis family since 1976.
