Raiders TE Brock Bowers

The Raiders Really Got It Right With Rookie Phenom Brock Bowers

Although the Las Vegas Raiders have faced numerous challenges this season, they managed to score a figurative home run with rookie phenom Brock Bowers. The young tight end is on pace to have a season for the history books.

2024 hasn’t been kind to the Silver and Black—that’s putting it mildly if we’re honest. However, Bowers’ arrival is a positive development, not only for this season but also for the upcoming decade. As Tom Telesco’s first pick as Raiders general manager, he’s given the squad an all-world offensive weapon that does everything. In fact, you could argue he’s already one of the best tight ends in the game.

Brock Bowers: The Raiders 2024 MVP?

It’s amazing to see, truly. Bowers easily transitioned from a generational player at Georgia to an elite NFL talent in just his rookie season. Prior to the matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Bowers sat at 968 receiving yards with just 14 games under his belt. His first reception went for 32 yards, and just like that, he joined Kyle Pitts and Mike Ditka as the only trio of rookie tight ends to have accumulated 1,000 yards.

Funny enough, if you ask Brock Bowers, he’s not thinking about records. No. 89 has repeatedly expressed his desire to win; transitioning from a winning culture in the SEC at Georgia to an organization that hasn’t won a playoff game in over a generation can be challenging.

What’s incredible and noteworthy at the same time is that Bowers is accomplishing all of this despite the Raiders offense being an absolute disaster. You’re talking about several starting quarterbacks. Then, you had inept playcalling and structure that resulted in the offensive coordinator getting fired and a non-existent run game. Oh, and your star wide receiver was shipped out midseason. The fact that Bowers has persevered through all of that gives Raider Nation some hope for the future.
