Las Vegas Raiders GM John Spytek: NFL Draft1st Round Scenarios

Las Vegas Raiders Part Ways With Multiple Players, Pair Of Recent Draftees

As Pete Carroll and John Spytek continue gearing up for the 2025 NFL season, changes continue to be made. On Sunday, veterans Jaylon Smith and Jonathan Sutherland were welcomed to Sin City. On Monday, a multitude of players were waived by the Las Vegas Raiders, including two draft selections from the 2022 NFL Draft and beyond.

Those players are linebacker Amari Burney, a former sixth-round pick, and defensive tackle Matthew Butler, a former fifth-rounder.

Burney, added in the 2023 NFL Draft, spent two seasons with the Silver and Black. On 190 career defensive snaps, the Florida alum has accumulated 32 tackles with three behind the line of scrimmage and one being a sack, along with one forced fumble this past season.

Butler, drafted in 2022, totaled 168 defensive snaps through three seasons. He’s been responsible for nine tackles throughout these snaps, adding a half-sack to his resume in 2022.

Beyond Burney and Butler, three additional players were also waived: wide receiver Tyreik McAllister, tackle Dominic Boyd, and linebacker Brandon Smith.

Kristian Wilkerson was also released in this flurry of moves.

Along With Jaylon Smith and Jonathan Sutherland, Las Vegas also announced the signings of edge rusher Jahfari Harvey, linebacker Wesley Steiner, and wide receivers Ketron Jackson Jr. and Key’Shawn Smith.

Expect the roster to continue undergoing changes as the offseason program keeps progressing and action gets nearer. As things stand, Sin City finds themselves with the fifth-most cap space league-wide. If the stars properly align, that can go a long way as teams begin cutting veterans down the line.

In the meantime, these are the new members of the Las Vegas Raiders.
