Jakobi Meyers And Jack Bech: The Las Vegas Raiders Glue Hands Duo

It’s no secret that Las Vegas Raiders wideout Jakobi Meyers has some of the most sure-hands in the National Football League. On 129 targets this past season, Meyers was able to haul in 87 passes for 1,027 yards, all while dropping zero passes in the process. In fact, Meyers was the only player who totaled over 50 receptions to catch everything he got his hands on in 2024. And then there’s Jack Bech.

While Meyers’ receiving prowess is no secret, Bech’s flies under the radar. This past season, 71 players in the FBS caught at least 58 passes. Bech, responsible for 62 receptions that resulted in 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns, happened to be one of those players.

And among those 71 FBS players with at least 58 receptions in 2024, only four dropped 2% or fewer passes their way: Washington’s Giles Jackson (85 catches, 1.2% drop percentage), Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith (76 catches, 1.3% drop percentage), Texas State’s Joey Hobert (72 receptions, 1.4% drop percentage) and TCU’s Jack Bech (62 receptions, 1.6% drop percentage).

Sin City’s football team has a duo of ‘glue hands’ on their.. hands.

But that’s not all. Bech was able to post such a low drop percentage while totaling 13 catches with defenders draped all over him. This was the highest contested catch total any of the four aforementioned receivers were responsible for this past season.

Meaning, Bech was able to maintain such a low drop percentage while catching more passes in tight windows than his peers with similar drop rates.

Or perhaps Las Vegas Raiders WRs Jakobi Meyers and Jack Bech should be called the contested catch duo..

Similarly, a large chunk of Meyers’ catches came in tight coverage–16, to be exact. This tied for 10th-most contested catches during the ’24 regular season, doing so on five less targets than the 12 pass-catchers with 16 or more contested catches throughout the year.

If you’re okay with including tight ends, we may be looking at a contested catch trio.

Tied with Jakobi Meyers for 16 contested catches in 2024 was his teammate Brock Bowers; the first-year All-Pro rookie. However, Bowers accomplished this feat with six more targets in such situations than his wide receiver tag-team partner.

Unfortunately, Bowers won’t yet be joining his teammates as members of the ‘glue hands’ crew. Among the 10 tight ends with the 10-most receptions in 2024, Bowers’ 3.4% drop rate lands him at the fourth-highest spot.

But that’ll happen when you’re looking at 148 targets on the year–nine more than any other tight end league-wide.

In any case, the Las Vegas Raiders have a pair of receivers who hardly know what it feels like to drop a pass. Add in Brock Bowers’ contested catch ability, and suddenly the offense is cooking with fire. Especially after accounting for 6-foot-5 Dont’e Thornton Jr.’s blazing speed, who posted the third-fastest 40-time among all players at the 2025 NFL Combine.
