Another season went by, and another Super Bowl featured Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. However, this time the City of Fountains was unsuccessful. Still, they remain the cream of the crop as far as the AFC West is concerned. Obviously, Las Vegas Raiders fans are sick to death of hearing about it, but until you knock off the kings, it is what it is.
For the Chiefs, the duo of Mahomes and Travis Kelce could be coming to an end soon. There is growing skepticism that this season may be the last for the future Hall of Fame tight end.
Since 2014, this team has consistently finished the regular season with at least 10 wins. Coming off a 2024 Super Bowl win, the Chiefs avoided a possible “hangover” and once again dominated the West. However, for the first time, the team looked “human” and “beatable.” Can they continue their run over the division? Let’s do a game-by-game prediction for 2025.
AFC West: 2025 Kansas City Chiefs Schedule Prediction
Weeks 1 & 15: Los Angeles Chargers (1-1)
In 2024, many of the divisional matchups were fiercely contested battles. With a competitive roster, Los Angeles is poised to remain a strong contender in this rivalry. Brazil will host their first encounter, and it will be interesting to see if the September contest is affected by the crowd.
Joey Bosa and Asante Samuel Jr. were major factors on the defense but are no longer in Los Angeles. Despite a hard-fought battle, Kansas City wins Week 1 by a small margin. However, injuries and momentum lead the Chargers to victory in their second contest.
Week 2: Philadelphia Eagles (1-2)
The game circled on the schedule by most NFL fans comes in Week 2. Both teams will be playing with a renewed sense of vigor, as the contest has evolved into a new rivalry. Super Bowl LIX showed that the City of Brotherly Love was the kryptonite for this squad. Their defensive line poses a huge threat to the lackluster offensive line of the Chiefs.
Although both teams will fight hard, the Eagles will be victorious again.
Week 3: New York Giants (2-2)
Big Apple, let’s ride! Russell Wilson is now commanding the ship for the Giants in Year 14 of the quarterback’s career. Besides Malik Nabers, there is not much excitement for the offense. However, deep defensive lines are a weakness for the Chiefs—can the G-Men exploit that?
This will be a low-scoring matchup, but Mahomes will find a way to be victorious in the end.
Week 4: Baltimore Ravens (2-3)
The last time these teams matched up, Isaiah Likely’s shoe ended the game.
Because of this, Baltimore will want revenge and come out firing. The Ravens addition of Jaire Alexander makes their roster very intimidating. Kansas City adds to the loss column.
Week 5: Jacksonville Jaguars (3-3)
Monday Night Football in Jacksonville will be must-watch television. Travis Hunter will be the main attraction for this game, but his team cannot compete with the seasoned Chiefs.
Despite their flashy playstyle, the Jaguars will struggle to outscore Andy Reid’s offense.
Week 6: Detroit Lions (4-3)
Unlike Kansas City, Detroit has a new offensive coordinator in 2025. Ben Johnson is now the head coach for the Chicago Bears. Will they be as successful as before? That answer remains unknown.
Because of that, betting on the Lions to win is a tough ask before the season.
Weeks 7 & 18: Las Vegas Raiders (5-4)
The Silver and Black have been the most competitive squad against the reigning AFC West champions. If there was not miscommunication on a snap, Las Vegas would have won on Black Friday last season. This time, Geno Smith will be leading the offense for every snap. He will propel this roster into winning at least one of these contests.
Additionally, Maxx Crosby always has an extra gear when battling his deepest rival. Mahomes recently gave his flowers to the Pro Bowl defensive end. Obviously both of these men look forward to these matchups.
“He has sacked me the most,” Mahomes said. “To me he is the best pass rusher I have played against.”
Week 8: Washington Commanders (6-4)
Jayden Daniels has fully transformed this team into a contender. After reaching the NFC Championship, the Commanders now have a chance to compete every season. However, the Chiefs possess more experience than their youthful core, even though this game is expected to be highly competitive.
Week 9: Buffalo Bills (6-5)
Josh Allen and Mahomes have had historic battles over the years. After all, these are two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. This game will be in Buffalo, giving them a slight advantage.
This game promises to be a captivating spectacle, with the Bills emerging victorious.
Week 10: BYE
Weeks 11 & 17: Denver Broncos (8-5)
Since 2015, Denver has only beaten the Chiefs once with all of their starters playing. This happened in Week 8 of 2023. Because of this statistic, the Broncos will likely continue to struggle against Kansas City.
They lose both contests in 2025.
Week 12: Indianapolis Colts (9-5)
The Colts are still unsure of their starting quarterback at this very moment. Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson are fighting for their careers. Jones was released by the Giants toward the end of 2024. This game should be an effortless addition to the win column.
Week 13: Dallas Cowboys (10-5)
America’s team usually performs well during the regular season. Additionally, the two franchises have had a back-and-forth battle in history. Dallas has upgraded their wide receiver room with the addition of George Pickens. Moreover, Micah Parsons, following an underwhelming season in 2024, has a renewed sense of determination.
Despite their additions, the team is not at the same competitive level as the Chiefs.
Week 14: Houston Texans (10-6)
The city of Houston now features a prominent team in the state of Texas. There is a lot of excitement around this team filled with young talent. They are ready for a breakthrough season and will surprise everyone with an unexpected victory.
Week 16: Tennessee Titans (11-6)
After holding the number one draft pick in the NFL Draft, there should not be high expectations for Tennessee. There is not much talent surrounding their new quarterback, Cam Ward. This game will also significantly impact the playoff picture at that time.
My prediction? Kansas City wins in dramatic fashion.
An 11-win season places the Chiefs in an excellent position for a deep playoff run. Additionally, this season may be one of the last opportunities for the Chiefs to dominate the AFC West.
