Raiders News: Pete Carroll, and more.

Raiders breaking news: Team ownership finally axed head coach Pete Carroll

The Las Vegas Raiders put off a decision that both the media and Raider Nation saw coming, they finally axed head coach Pete Carroll.

After what many fans claimed was one of the worst seasons in team history, the move to relieve Carroll seemed inevitable. Despite Carroll consistently shooting down questions and concerns regarding his future this week, it really appeared that the stars had already aligned. The question is, where does Sin City go from here? They secured the No. 1 overall pick this past weekend, but other than that, there are more questions than answers.

The Raiders finally relieve Pete Carroll…

As league insider Ian Rapoport reported, Carroll is officially “one and done” after this season. By doing so, he joins Antonio Pierce, last year’s Raiders head coach, as another failed project by the Silver and Black. Something to note that’s of importance, Rapoport added that minority owner Tom Brady was present at Raiders HQ today as the decision was announced.

Another insider, Tom Pelissero, went on to drop another tidbit worth mentioning. General manager John Spytek will indeed retain his title and power following Carroll’s exit. It will now be Brady and Spytek’s “show” moving forward.

Of course, this leads to speculation on whether the next head coach will strictly be that, a coach. With roster control and decision-making firmly in the dynamic duo’s hands. It’s something worth keeping an eye on as the search for the next Raiders head honcho begins.

What are your thoughts on all of this, Raider Nation?
