The Las Vegas Raiders add veteran wide receiver Noah Brown while moving on from defensive tackle Benito Jones in their latest roster shakeup. Something or nothing?
The Raiders announced Sunday that they’ve signed Brown to their active roster. Some are calling it an underwhelming acquisition.

Still, in a corresponding move, the team released Jones. Brown joins Las Vegas after two injury-plagued seasons with the Washington Commanders, where he caught 40 passes for 536 yards and a touchdown while missing 19 games. Before Washington, he spent one season with the Houston Texans and six with the Dallas Cowboys, totaling 155 career catches for 2,083 yards and six touchdowns.

The timing lines up with the Raiders’ ongoing uncertainty at receiver. Dont’e Thornton Jr. is still working back from being “banged up,” and the room behind Tre Tucker and Jalen Nailor has been in flux all camp, with rookie Malik Benson and free agent Dareke Young both stepping into bigger roles.
Brown adds size and contested-catch ability as a veteran insurance policy, someone who can play early if injuries pile up, without costing the Raiders much long-term commitment given his recent injury history. Losing Jones thins an already-tested interior defensive line, though the earlier Foley Fatukasi signing softens that blow somewhat.
Expect Brown to compete for a depth role rather than an immediate starting spot, with his path to real playing time tied directly to how quickly Thornton returns to full health.
Does Brown’s addition tell you more about the Raiders’ concerns at receiver or their lack of depth on the defensive line?
