Let’s start off by saying this is still the preseason. However, this will not be acceptable to most Raiders fans. Why? Because they heard this same excuse last year and it took seven weeks into the regular season before the defense started playing at an acceptable level. Some fans refuse to believe even that.
Oakland’s first preseason game of 2017 produced much drama and perhaps raised more questions than answers. Questions like: Is Ken Norton Jr. the right man for the job? Last, but certainly not least, our Raider Ramble panel will take a look at the AFC North as we set sail towards the regular season! A division that has certainly given fans one of the best rivalry matchups in recent history in Ravens versus Steelers, along with one of the most intriguing and controversial teams in the Bengals. But perhaps after a seemly strong offseason, the Cleveland Browns are preparing to drag themselves from amongst the NFL’s basement dwellers and come into their own. Well, that may be a long shot as only time will tell.
Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Johnny Burczak, a man who follows all things Kansas City Chiefs and co-hosts a podcast called WildWestAFC Podcast. It is nearly impossible for Raider Nation to resist after years of pre-season prediction coverage delegated to failures.
Now should we “sip the kool-aid” of Super Bowl contender status? Before you settle on that matter, take a look at a parallel I have noticed between the upcoming 2017 Oakland Raiders and the 2009 New Orleans who went on to win a Super Bowl contender.
This is the law that authorizes the funding for the Las Vegas Stadium and Las Vegas Convention Center. The issue with that is that the language defining the community benefits agreement is overly vague. Because of that, one local group appears to be taking advantage of this. They have demanded that the Raiders set up a bank account that they can have access to according to sources close to this.
The Raiders biggest offensive positional weakness in 2016 was the tight end group. Considering the overall success of the offense as a whole, it will be an area to watch for improvements thru the Oakland Raiders 2017 training camp carefully.
