Don’t Believe The Hype: Most Overblown AFC West Narratives

Las Vegas Raiders – Davante Adams is destined to decline

The Raiders aced the offseason by any chosen metric. A playoff team that weathered unprecedented adversity got better on both sides of the ball via NFL free agency and the draft. The team’s new star wide receiver, Davante Adams, was the crown jewel of the haul. He’s the consistent, game-breaking playmaker the Raiders have lacked for years.

Many in the media can’t seem to imagine Adams having the same impact he had in Green Bay without back-to-back MVP Aaron Rodgers tossing him the ball. Look, we all know that Derek Carr is not Rodgers. He will never be Rodgers. The good news for Raider Nation is that he doesn’t have to be for Adams to continue his run of dominance offensively.

Carr is well known to feed targets to guys he trusts, and there’s no one he trusts more than his former Fresno State teammate. Will this make Carr a bit more careless? Sure. But it also means 100-plus catches for DA17 are very much in play. Take notice, AFC West.

Next: And what about the Chargers?
