It appears Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey will be on the move soon. Should the Las Vegas Raiders make it happen? Oh, most certainly. General manager Dave Ziegler could surely help Patrick Graham by making him a three-time All-Pro defender.
According to NFL insider and Sirius XM radio host Tom Pelissero, the Rams have had trade talks with other teams, though the teams were undisclosed. It’s anyone’s guess who those teams were. Even so, Ramsey could be on the move within the “coming weeks,” per Pelissero. The Raiders, for their part, are in dire need of quality starters for their defense. Outside of three, maybe four, quality defenders, the Raiders’ defense could see a lot of changes. Maxx Crosby is a foundational player, Nate Hobbs has shown promise, and Trevon Moehrig will be looking to bounce back in Year 3. Plugging in Ramsey instantly gives the Raiders’ defense some legitimacy; the problem could be his price tag.
As of this publication, Ramsey is due nearly $17 million next season on a deal that’s heavily front-loaded. The other part of the equation is draft capital. The Raiders have a bevy of holes on their roster, so they can’t waste any capital this year. There are concerns surrounding Ramsey’s play as well. He surrendered the second-most yardage of his career while in pass coverage in 2022, with 659 yards. In addition, he gave up five touchdowns in coverage, a career high.
Be that as it may, Raider Nation is at a fever pitch on social media.
The reason for such fervor could be due to the fact that Crosby and Ramsey were quite chummy during the recent Pro Bowl games. Who knows what was said, but what if it plays out with Ramsey becoming a Raider? One thing’s for sure: Jalen Ramsey would probably look good in Silver and Black.
