Hunter Renfrow Trade Package; What Can Raiders Expect In Return?

Raiders: What Would A Hunter Renfrow Trade Package Look Like?

Rumors continue to swirl regarding the future of Hunter Renfrow in Vegas. After inking former Patriot wideout, Jakobi Meyers, to a $33 million deal, speculation has run rampant regarding an eventual trade for the 2021 breakout star. What could a Renfrow package look like if the front office chooses to move on from the former Pro Bowler?

Raiders Should Use Previous Trades To Gauge The Value Of Hunter Renfrow

Let’s take a look at some recent trades that involved veteran pass catchers in order to find the requisite value for Renfrow. Last offseason, several big-name receivers changed teams. The trend continued in 2023.

The Raiders sent a 2022 first-round pick — along with a second-rounder — to Green Bay in exchange for one of the best players in the NFL, Davante Adams. The Dolphins followed suit by sending a slew of draft picks to Kansas City for speedster Tyreek Hill. Both players signed lucrative nine-figure extensions in their new homes.

Cleveland flipped sixth-rounders with Dallas and chipped in an extra fifth to secure the rights to former Raider Amari Cooper. Like Renfrow is currently, Cooper was 27 at the time of the trade and carried a dead cap hit north of $18 million.

Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys acquired Brandin Cooks for a fifth- and sixth-round pick. Cooks is a bit older than Renfrow, as the 29-year-old brings a slightly lower dead cap hit with him to Dallas. This most recent trade lays out what the Raiders can expect if they send Renfrow packing.

4 Faux Trades That Outline A Potential Trade Package For Renfrow And The Raiders

So, where exactly does the value stand for the former Clemson star? Well, he is a couple of tiers below Adams and Hill, so a Day 1 or 2 pick is likely off the table. Cooper and Cooks provide a better baseline, as the age and dead cap numbers closely resemble Renfrow’s situation.

Renfrow Trade Package No. 1

Titans Send: 2025 fifth-round pick
Raiders Send: WR Hunter Renfrow

Tennessee desperately needs help in the wide receiver room. Second-year pass catcher Treylon Burks is the only semi-proven option on the depth chart. Whether the team sticks with Ryan Tannehill or hands the keys to Will Levis, Renfrow would provide a steady target. The slot-specialist has a clear path to 100+ looks in the Titans’ offense.

Renfrow Trade Package No. 2

Falcons Send: 2024 fourth-round pick
Raiders Send: WR Hunter Renfrow, 2024 fifth-round pick

The Falcons have been aggressively loading the roster up around incumbent starter Desmond Ridder. General manager Terry Fontenot remains aggressive by acquiring a starting slot receiver for the low price of a Day 3 pick swap. For the Raiders, they are able to unload Renfrow and move up in the middle portion of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Renfrow Trade Package No. 3

Bills Send: 2024 seventh-round pick, 2025 fifth-round pick
Raiders Send: WR Hunter Renfrow

The Bills are firmly in their Super Bowl window and should jump at the opportunity to add Renfrow to the locker room. He is a reliable target from the slot and presents Buffalo with the higher-upside Cole Beasley replacement the front office has been searching for the past two offseasons.

Renfrow Trade Package No. 4

Dolphins Send: 2024 fifth-round pick, 2025 sixth-round pick
Raiders Send: WR Hunter Renfrow

Another AFC East team might swoop in and snag Renfrow before their divisional rival can. No, it is not New England — even if the connection makes sense. Instead, the Dolphins may view the slot savant as the ideal foil to blazers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Tua Tagovailoa thrives in short-yardage situations, leading to some gaudy numbers for Renfrow in the Mike McDaniel system.

Should The Raiders Make A Trade?

The Raiders shouldn’t expect a pick inside the top 100 in return for Renfrow, but Day 3 picks are on the table. If the trade package mirrors what Brandin Cooks was recently traded for, a fifth-round pick feels like the dream scenario. Vegas will not giveaway its depth without a suitable offer, but with several wide receiver-needy teams, the market could heat up as the season draws closer.
