Four “ifs” walk into a Las Vegas Raiders trade rumor…
Let’s get something straight. The NFL offseason is a content desert, and nothing quenches thirst quite like a star player trade rumor dressed up in “sources say” clothing. The breathless speculation around Maxx Crosby and the Los Angeles Rams is a masterclass in the genre.
Here’s the actual argument being made, stripped of its punditry packaging. If the Raiders stumble early, and if the Rams want a pass rusher, and if Crosby’s value spikes in October, and if a contender gets desperate, then maybe a trade happens. That’s four conditional clauses stacked on top of each other. Call it analysis or call it fan fiction but the difference is razor thin.
Start with the premise that Crosby has “mended things” with Las Vegas after a Baltimore Ravens trade that collapsed faster than a Vegas buffet sneeze guard. Sure. And nothing says organizational stability like shopping your franchise cornerstone, reversing course, and then spending the summer insisting everything is fine. Totally normal.
Then there’s the Rams’ positioning. Los Angeles, apparently, wants to be one of the rare teams willing to trade from an expectedly loaded 2027 draft class. Translation: the Rams might mortgage future assets for a 28-year-old edge rusher on a narrowing competitive window. Bold, especially for a franchise that already treats draft capital like a renewable resource.
And Q Myers, bless him, managed to argue both sides of the same coin in consecutive breaths. Crosby won’t get traded unless the price jumps. Teams will lowball, but deadlines can force action.

- There’s a lot riding on Isaiah Pola-Mao this upcoming season
The most honest line in this entire saga came from Myers, almost by accident. “I still honestly don’t believe he’s going to get traded.”
That’s the counterargument. Right there.
Crosby is elite. John Spytek has already shown he won’t blink. The Raiders, for all their dysfunction, are not going to gift wrap their best player for a late first-rounder and a conditional third.
But it’s May, the draft is over, and the content machine still needs to eat.
Maxx Crosby will be a Raider in Week 1 and beyond. Write it down.
