The conjecture surrounding Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby continues to surge. Spare me the “clickbait” comments, major outlets such as CBS Sports are talking about it, so deal with it. With that out of the way, read on.
It wasn’t that long ago that Jerry Jones and his Cowboys organization was being talked about as a landing spot for Crosby. Prior to the Baltimore Ravens making the splash move, the Cowboys would’ve been the next logical team given their draft capital. However, once the transaction with the Ravens fell apart, no new deal surfaced. It was painfully obvious that no other NFL team was going to give up a pair of first round picks as Baltimore had originally planned to do.
With all of that being said, Crosby is still one of the best pass rushers in the game and his trade value has its merit. However, if you’re the Raiders, it’s apparent that whatever is received in return will likely not match his output.
Never say never, though…
We just witnessed Myles Garrett get shipped off to Los Angeles; anything’s possible. CBS Sports’ Bryan DeArdo recently mentioned that both the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles would be landing spots given their need for a proven pass rushing threat.
“The Cowboys are one of the logical landing spots for Crosby if he is indeed traded this summer,” DeArdo wrote. “Another possible option is the Eagles, who, like Dallas, could use a proven pass rusher. One of the things that makes Crosby an attractive trade target is that he is still just 28 (he’ll turn 29 in August).”
Would the Raiders trade Maxx Crosby again?
Both the Cowboys and Eagles make sense for different reasons. The Cowboys are surely salivating at the prospect of Crosby technically replacing Micah Parsons. That move would likely put them in Super Bowl contention with a rejuvenated pass-rushing attack. For the Eagles, they’re in better financial health now that the A.J. Brown trade is complete.
Either way, the next few months could get interesting if Crosby is available. Don’t forget, the Raiders did technically trade him once before.
