Raiders News: Jack Bech, and more.

Raiders HC Klint Kubiak might be developing a secret playmaker in WR Jack Bech

The wide receiver group for new Las Vegas Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak is undergoing significant changes from last year’s bunch.

Among those players, we have Jack Bech, who is looking poised to bounce back from a disappointing rookie year.

Many Raiders fans questioned whether Bech was worthy of his relatively high selection last year. Under then-head coach Pete Carroll and his out of touch offensive coordinator that’ll remain nameless, Bech floundered. All offseason and camp, those around the team praised Bech but once the games started, it was a disappearing act. Clearly, Bech just wasn’t involved in the game-planning though to be fair, the offense was largely a joke last season.

That’s going to change under Kubiak…

It’s early, especially since training camp is yet to take place but Bech could really see a jump into the “starter” role. He’s currently listed as such and given the overall lack of experience within the receiver corps, it’s obvious that the former TCU standout will got an honest chance to make a mark.

If the Raiders didn’t believe in Bech, you would’ve seen general manager John Spytek pursue the wide receiver position more aggressively, especially via the NFL draft. For now, Bech’s in play for a lot of playing time.

Spytek himself shed praise on Bech, pointing out his work ethic and aggressive manor in which they’re approaching the game. Of both him and Don’t’e Thornton, Spytek said, “They seek people out and look for answers. They look for ways they can get better. They’re always trying to learn, and they work their tails off. It means a lot to both of those guys. And I’ll stand by guys like that.”

Coming into this second season, Bech’s status as a second round selection will come into question once again. With either Kirk Cousins or Fernando Mendoza throwing to him in Kubiak’s system, Bech could at worst, develop into a solid No. 2 or 3 option. This will be a story worth monitoring.
