Reaction from Las Vegas Raiders fans to Jackson Powers-Johnson’s latest injury has landed somewhere between weary and worried.
A large chunk of the response focuses on his track record: this is now a recurring pattern for him, dating back to college and continuing through two injury-shortened NFL seasons, so plenty of fans reacted with more resignation than shock. Beat writers said the timing was especially cruel. That’s because JPJ seemed to be winning his camp battle at right guard before this setback opened the door right back up for his positional rival.
Speaking to reporters in Houston, #Raiders HC Klint Kubiak said he doesn’t expect RG Jackson Powers-Johnson to play on Thursday vs. Houston.

On social media, sentiment split into a few camps.
One group expressed genuine frustration. They argued that talent means little if a player can’t stay on the field. His reliability is now a legitimate question heading into the season.
A second, more sympathetic group pushed back. They noted the injury is considered short-term. Soft-tissue tweaks are also common during padded camp practices and shouldn’t define a young player’s trajectory.
A third group shifted the focus to the roster. They viewed the injury as an opportunity to see if his understudy can seize the job in the preseason finale.

National reaction from league insiders was more measured than the fan discourse, generally noting the injury doesn’t appear serious but that the coaching staff is being deliberately cautious given the stakes of the position battle. That cautious-but-not-alarmed tone seems to be tempering the more pessimistic fan takes, at least for now.
