NFL Network Predicts Raiders Schedule

From 2003 to 2015 the Oakland Raiders could only manage 63 wins. The Raiders were a team dubbed “The Team of the Decades”, yet for over a decade, winning and excellence shown on the field were a rare achievement. When the two most consistently good players on a team are the kicker and punter, wins will undoubtedly be hard to come by.

However, this narrative appeared to change in 2016. A miraculous Week 1 win over the New Orleans Saints kick-started what was a 12-4 season that ended the Raiders’ long playoff drought. This was the first time since 2000 that the Raiders amassed 12 wins and it was the first double-digit winning season since 2002. Needless to say, success was far from the norm in the East Bay.

Oakland Raiders usher in new era with Brent Musburger

As it stands now per Gilbert Manzano of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the long-time voice of the Oakland Raiders, Greg Papa, is on his way out. Papa has served as the play-by-play radio voice of the Raiders since the 1993 season.

Taking over for Papa will be Brent Musburger as he signed a three-year contract which will start this season.

2018 Outlook: Three Raiders Who Must Step up

While it must be a group effort, there are some players who need to raise their own individual game if the Silver & Black want to have a successful year. Obviously, there are the big names like Derek Carr or Amari Cooper, but let’s take a deeper look at some smaller names that need to up their level of play.

The New Dynamic Duo Of The Raiders Secondary

Conley showed flashes of greatness in a Week 2 matchup last season against the New York Jets. Despite it serving as a brief look at the former Buckeye, it gave a glimmer of hope that the Raiders have a shut-down corner for many years to come. Unfortunately, Conley’s shins would give way the following week and as a result, he was put on the shelf for the remainder of his rookie season.

Despite Conley not being on the field to showcase his talents, his collegiate resume and the brief snippet of playing time in the NFL is enough to silence any naysayers. Fast forward to now and Conley’s injury has since healed and he is right on schedule in his return to the field.

Quick Slants: Attitude Era returning for the Oakland Raiders

A mini-vacation is a good reprieve for Jon Gruden’s Oakland Raiders. A break from the daily NFL grind does both the body and mind good.

When the team reconvenes in a month for training camp in Napa, however, it’s imperative Gruden ramp up the attitude and maintain the same level-headed approach he’s shown in front of the media.

“We got a lot to prove yet, we’re a long way off. But we laid a very good foundation,” Gruden said during last week’s mandatory minicamp.

Derek Carr

Derek Carr and Jon Gruden “off to a terrific start”

In the three seasons Gruden and Gannon shared together, Gannon threw for over 10,000 yards, 79 touchdown passes and Oakland made the playoffs each year with this duo. Prior to joining the Raiders, Gannon’s top season was less than stellar as he only managed 2,305 yards through the air with ten touchdown tosses and six interceptions.

With a tough-love coaching style, Gruden was able to help lead Gannon on the path of his most productive years in the NFL. Now, Gruden will oversee an offensive attack that already boasts an MVP-caliber quarterback in Carr.

Gruden’s Choice: The tangible vs. the conceivable on the Raiders

The choice between veteran savvy with established play and youthful exuberance coupled with potential will become all too real for the Oakland Raiders as they grind towards the 2018 regular season. It’s the battle of the tangible vs. the conceivable. And that’s a dope time for NFL personnel peeps to earn their keep. Does a …

Why Greg Olson can Electrify the Raiders’ Offense Again

Looking ahead to next season, Olson will be taking over a talented offense filled with star power. Carr is only one year removed from being an MVP candidate and the offensive line is still one of the toughest in the league. With the strong likelihood of Olson rejuvenating Amari Cooper to return to form along with the addition of Jody Nelson and many talented younger wideouts, this receiving corps will be a potent aerial assault in 2018. With some gas left in the tank, all signs point to Marshawn Lynch as the work-horse back for next year. Given Olson’s resume with less talented rosters, this year the Raiders offense has the potential to be one of the best in the league under Greg Olson.
