Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby

The sweepstakes for Raiders DE Maxx Crosby aren’t dead from a Bears perspective

The speculation surrounding Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby refuses to die. Whether it’s a slow news period or not, it’s worth discussing because no one thought the original trade would’ve happened.

Let’s keep it real, had it not been for a certain general manager getting cold feet, Crosby would be preparing to play for the Baltimore Ravens right now.

The Maxx Crosby saga “continues”

While the fiasco regarding the Ravens has been discussed to the point of exhaustion, what’s happening in real time is quite different. The Chicago Bears, who are looking to build off their turnaround last season, need a pass rusher. Not just anyone will do. They need a heralded and feared player that’ll help elevate the Bears’ defense to another level.

That’s where Crosby comes in, obviously.

Say what you want about the wear and tear on his body, but Crosby is still one of the top five at his position. However, for that reason, it’s hard to believe the Raiders would actually move him. Then again, it wasn’t that long ago, John Spytek proved that theory incorrect.

As for the Bears, it’s Bleacher Report that has been pushing the Crosby and Chicago agenda. Gary Davenport wrote, “despite a clear need at edge-rusher, the Bears did little in free agency or this year’s draft to address the position.” Davenport noted that Crosby, since the failed Ravens trade, has been on a PR mission to repair his relationship with the organization. Still, the Bears want to reach another plateau and Crosby would help them achieve that.

On the other hand, the Raiders are in the midst of a full  rebuild, and they could strike “again” while things are hot. “Vegas needs to add young assets. Think about that long-term vision Chicago’s head coach mentioned. And the return for Maxx Crosby may never be better than what it is right now if the Ravens are right about his knee,” added Davenport.

So what do you do if you’re Spytek and the Raiders?
