Raider Ramble’s Bold Predictions for 2017 Raiders

The start of the NFL regular season is now less than a couple of days away, and Raider Nation is historically anxious to witness their Oakland Raiders take the field this Sunday. The expectations are sky-high for this team, thanks in part to the emergence of a monstrous offense and some exciting additions via free agency and the NFL Draft.

Over here at The Raider Ramble, the several voices that fill the chatter all have different expectations for this year but more importantly are willing to go on record with some bold predictions! Let us know what you think Raider Nation, agree or disagree with your favorite contributors?

“AC/DC”: Back In Silver & Black

Can you feel it Raider Nation? The regular season is quickly approaching with the preseason now officially in the books. With those meaningless games (at least record wise) out of the way, let’s take a look at one the NFL’s best young passing duos; Derek Carr and Amari Cooper, affectionately known as “AC/DC.”

“En-Tice-ing”: Attention to detail’s key for Raiders OL

From left tackle Donald Penn to right tackle Marshall Newhouse, Oakland’s line is considered the 1B to the Dallas Cowboys 1A. The Raiders arguably have the best interior line in the league. The mastermind that gets Penn, Kelechi Osemele (LG), Rodney Hudson (C), Gabe Jackson (RG) and Newhouse all on the same page is offensive line coach Mike Tice. They are mean and nasty thanks, in large part, to Tice’s tutelage.

Raiders’ Defense Showcasing Impressive Youth

The Oakland Raiders are now 0-3 in this year’s NFL Preseason, and despite what pundits are saying, the defense has shown some young, bright spots we can look forward to seeing.

While there’s little argument that this team will go as far as quarterback Derek Carr will take them, the defense will have to do its part, and in spite of the final score, the first team defense did a solid job yesterday. What’s impressing so far in the preseason is the youngsters on the squad as we all know this defense is anchored by the likes of Khalil Mack and Bruce Irvin.

Raiders DE Jihad Ward Returns But Will There Be A “Re-Ward”

When general manager Reggie McKenzie chose Jihad Ward in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, most agreed he was a developmental project coming out of the University of Illinois. However, as evident from the constant outcry on social media it would be easy to forget that fact as Ward has yet to demonstrate he was worth that pick hence why many aren’t exactly celebrating in the streets as Ward returns to the team.

Duke It Out: Raiders’ Penn puts in work

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound is set to earn $5.8 million in the final year of his pact with Oakland and ended his holdout Wednesday afternoon, returning to the team.

As his teammates went through the grind in Napa, Penn was in Texas working with Offensive Line and Development Consultant Duke Manyweather. In a two-minute video of a 90-minute workout, Manyweather put Penn through the paces.
